I was also receiving an error 3176 from Outlook that was almost completely hidden from normal view (not sure why they do that!!) - anyhow, it prompted me to re-review my account settings (as this error code suggests either Account Settings issue or DNS setting issue) Change the preferences settings that are related to the On My Computer folders.
